Arriva took over
all public bus service operations on the islands of
Malta and Gozo on 3rd July 2011, with a modern bus fleet
replacing the varied and often historic vehicles which
are currently used by APT. A fleet of 260+ vehicles is
in use,
which includes:
- 125 x 12 metre King Long XMQ6127J
- 49 x 9 metre King Long XMQ6900J
- 10 x 9 metre hybrid vehicles (10 Optare Solos on temporary loan from
Arriva Derby)
- 2 x 7 metre Bluebird minibuses for the Valetta Town Service
- 58 x Mercedes Citaro articulated buses (ex Arriva London)
- ?? x Volvo B10B/Wright (temporary loan from Arriva North West)
An additional six SLF low-floor vehicles were leased from local owners for
pre-launch driver training.
