Searching Buses Online
We have introduced an additional search facility to make it easier to
locate specific operators and
vehicles within the many thousands of pages of the Buses Online website.
1. To search for an operator using our A-Z Gallery Listing - click
HERE
2. To search for new content since your last visit
3. To search the entire website (see guidance notes
below) - use the following search box.
Search for specific registration numbers, vehicle types, operator names or
locations.
Search Function Notes
1. Well over 95% of the photographic content within
Buses Online contains the vehicle registration number
within the file name, and is therefore easily
searchable. All new content will be named in this way.
2. When searching for photographs, registration numbers should be entered as one string with no
spaces:
for example abc123j. Many vehicles are also noted
within news articles and fleet lists, and in these cases
it is common for a space to have been included -
eg abc 123j. If in doubt, try searching for both formats.
3. Use an asterisk (*) as a wild card in your searches, if appropriate.
4. Upper and lower case searches should
give identical results.
5. A notable exception to this are some of the London Buses and
former London Country fleets.
Until recently
many of these were named using the fleet number of the vehicle
instead of its registration. If a
registration
number returns no matches, try searching its fleet number
(if known) instead.
6. The search index is refreshed regularly, but it may take a day or two
for recently added content to appear
in search results. For latest updates, always
check the updates page first.
