Plymouth Citybus was originally formed upon de-regulation in 1986 to take over the operations of Plymouth City Council Passenger Transport Department, and was owned and operated by Plymouth City Council. In May 2009, the Council announced its interest in selling the operation, and the sale to the Go Ahead Group was concluded on 30th November 2009.
